Tilly became the Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society in January 2018, after volunteering with the organization for 20+ years. She was the President of the Society in 2014-2015. Tilly has always been and continues to be an advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
Prior to joining the Society, Tilly worked in private practice, at Legal Aid and at the provincial Department of Justice where she was the Executive Director of Legal Services and from 2015-2016, the Acting Deputy Minister of Justice. Her areas of practice were administrative law, family law and civil litigation. Now Tilly focuses her time on advancing the Society’s strategic priorities which include enhancing access to legal services and promoting a legal profession that is diverse, inclusive and culturally competent.
