Jessica Downey is an Assistant Ombudsman. She manages a team of investigation staff who informally resolve complex complaints or scope matters for investigation. She has worked for the Ombudsman since 2009 and held roles in human resources, communications, complaints management, informal resolution and investigation.
Jessica led the Ombudsman’s ‘Investigation into Disability Abuse Reporting’ and ‘Investigation into the Financial Support Provided to Kinship Carers’. Both investigation reports were tabled in Parliament. Jessica developed the Ombudsman’s most recent Accessibility Action Plan and has a strong interest in communication accessibility for people with disabilities.
Jessica is committed to improving public administration by encouraging transparent and accountable decision-making.
Raised in Melbourne, Jessica studied Law and Human Resource Management. When she is not at work Jessica is mum to two small children and enjoys being outdoors.
